Do you feel the sifting. If not in your life, can you see the whirlwind of pressures that friends, family or your church is enduring. Sometimes it seems that the winds of strife are starting to blow a bit stronger now. People are struggling in our communities and churches, and are searching for hope.
In our daily discourse with those we meet, friend or foe, how do we show the love of Jesus? A love that is intelligent, meek and thoughtful. Do we get caught up in the strife also, and become tossed about and damaged.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
We are in the world and therefore we will have strife. But we choose if we are of the world. Over the past week, if Jesus had lived our lives; been at our jobs, handled our conflicts, dealt with our issues, would it have been the same as we lived our week, or different? Choose to show love in everything we do. This is how others will see Jesus in us and will know we are His disciples.
“Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:43)
